Like Lost Sheep
Many years ago, a cantankerous woman asked for prayer for her daughter. She said, “My daughter is argumentative, pig headed, and stubborn. She really needs help.” Suddenly someone blurted out, “Sounds like your daughter is just like you!” To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 53:6

He Brought Us Peace
One of the most difficult lessons in life is to understand that others pay for our sins. Our co-workers pay. Our friends pay. Our children pay. Our spouses pay. But no one paid more than our Savior. To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 53:4-5

He Took Your Pain
Quite a while ago a mom asked for prayer in a Sunday School class for her daughter who was hooked on drugs. The daughter was oblivious to the pain she was causing. The mom would rescue her whenever she could. To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 53:3-4

Who Has Believed?
Leadership was supposed to be from Rome. The King would come from the palace. That’s where leaders came from. Leaders did not come Galilee or Nazareth! To Learn more, listen to today’s thought based on Isaiah 53:1-2.

Exalted but Suffering
Our attitude is to be like Christ, ready to take on the trivial for the sake of others. To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on 52:13-15.

Do You have Beautiful Feet?
I once had a boss who sent a memo informing us that no open toe shoes were allowed on casual Friday’s. Evidently, he thought feet were disgusting to look at. But certain feet are described as beautiful in the Bible! To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 52:7-10

What Lasts
About 12 years ago my car was bright and shiny. My old car was only about 1 ½ years old when it was stolen, so I bought my present car. It seems like yesterday. I walked outside early in the morning and my beautiful new car was gone! Stolen! To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 51:6

Burst into Song
Years ago, I was a part of a volunteer fire department. After a short time I found I was the one who had to give comfort to those that were injured or lost loved ones. To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 49:13

– I will Strengthen You
Years ago, a friend David and I were walking to get lunch when an unknown man stepped out and asked us for money. Logically, we probably should have said “No. Go get some help.” Or “Get a job.” But we didn’t. We both opened our wallet and handed the man some money. I know the arguments, but I would point out that God does this type of thing all the time. To Learn more, listen to today’s though based on Isaiah 45:5.

Apart from Me
I remember going to a restaurant and seeing a very long menu. I was able to pick and choose according to my whim. But sometimes only one choice is correct. To learn more, listen to today’s thought based on Isaiah 43:11.
I, even I, am the Lord,
and apart from me there is no savior.
12
I have revealed and saved and proclaimed—
I, and not some foreign god among you.
February 1, 2023 – The Ultimate Servant
One of my favorite jobs was working for a college in Maryland. On the first day of work, the president of the college showed up to greet me with a box of Kleenex and a few items that she thought I might want in my office. Even though she was the president of the school, she was a servant. To learn more, listen to today’s thought based on Isaiah 42:1-4
“Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will bring justice to the nations.
2
He will not shout or cry out,
or raise his voice in the streets.
3
A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
4
he will not falter or be discouraged
till he establishes justice on earth.
In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”
